Mini-Post: Full size hats in Lolita?
Lately I've been pining after the Prince Philip Victorian Top Hat at Uniformal Warehouse. But do full size top hats work with lolita?
Hats and I have always had a strained relationship. I want it to work with us, but things just never feel right.
Edit: Well, I went ahead and ordered myself a top hat. Let's see how this goes!

well, I believe Alice and the Pirates has their own brand tophat. Not to say everything that brands do is flawless, but at least it means someone thought it was marketable.

ReplyDeleteAgree with you on the hat thing, I always feel odd and I worry I might look cliche in a top hat. I guess you have to make sure it fits in with your look and pay attention to the detail.

ReplyDeleteI don't see why they can't work. Now, a full-out black tophat might look a little odd in OTT Sweet, but for a delightfully Gothy Lolita such as yourself, I think they'd work wonders.
ReplyDeleteReally, it's all about how you decorate it as well, a regular black tophat doesn't work well with anything but a tailcoat and oldstyle pants. But a tophat with a lace border, or maybe burgandy and silver feathers? -Very- Lolita if done right.
Overall, if it makes you happy, go for it~ Make it yours, there's where half the fun comes in~
Apatico has done some full-sized hats in Lolita! Also full sized crowns :o I think it will work wonderfully :)
