Skating + Christmas Meetups

Soo, two weeks ago (has it really been that long?) my lovely local ladies had a surprisingly large meet hosted by Miss Kirsten, with many new faces. It was quite a success, I'd say. We ate at a neat little cafe in the city called Chocolatea, and then moved onto making fools of our frilly selves ice skating. I used to skate all the time as a kid (being that I'd from Detroit), but my goodness, I am really out of practice.

You can also see that I cut my hair! I did it the night before in one of my fellow loli's apartments. I've had long but thin hair most of my life, and frankly I just got sick of it. I haven't had hair this short since I was in 2nd grade. It's a huge change for me, but I rather like it.

The next week, several of my lolita friends and I decided to crash a NoVA/Northern Virginia meet-up! It was a yummy Christmas-themed tea party. The tea was delicious and the VA lolitas were wonderful as always. We need to come down and visit them more often! Afterwards, we went to a sushi place in DC with a few more friends.

I hope all my dear readers had a wonderful holiday <3

Art Post: Happy Lolidays!

This year, the winter holidays have really sprung up on me! I'm hoping to cram in as much holiday nonsense as I can this week- baking, decorating, shopping for gifts. I am terribly behind.
Yesterday, to kick things off, I went to Christmas themed tea party meet up (post to come!), and tomorrow I am going to go set up the loli-tree at my friends' apartment.
I hope you're all enjoying the holiday season, whatever your traditions are. And I hope that those of you in college as well are surviving your finals! I just barely got out of mine alive ;^;
But, anyhow, here is a holiday-themed lolita drawing I did for one of my finals!

In my class, we had a "secret santa" assignment, where you wrote a custom assignment for another classmate. For me, someone wrote "Design a holiday/winter themed EGL outfit and do a lifestyle illustration of it". Perfect!
I'm not terribly used to drawing digitally, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Playing around with the pattern and colored lines was super fun. I'd love to do a little series of Imai Kira inspired drawings.
I also have several other sketches and outfit designs that didn't get realized this time.

and some "lifestyle" sketches...

Also, in art-related news- I did the cover for a French magazine, Parceque! :D

Mini-Post: Princesses!

The hiatus continues, but in the meantime- here's one of the things I've been working on!

A poster-sized drawing of 50 princesses. Can you name them all?

Autumn Photodump

Life has been really catching up with me lately, so I apologize for the infrequency of posts. Hopefully after my fall semester finals, I'll be more in control again.
Anyhow, in the meantime, I've got some photos from various fun times this autumn that have been stacking up.
First, New Orleans trip for Halloween!

At the Vampire Ball. Voltaire was the best host ever <3

I didn't get too many photos unfortunately, because my camera battery failed me. But I did get a new tattoo! It's in memory of my grandmother. She was from Louisiana, and I got it done on the 4 month anniversary of her death. The magnolia was one of her favorite flowers (she had a degree in horticulture), and is also very common in Louisiana, as you can see in the graveyard photos. "Love Endures" is part of a passage I read at her funeral. The crown is a symbol of loyalty. And the frame? Well, frames are pretty and I like them.

Excuse my shower hair and candy-corn boxers.

Anyway, back at home, I went to Renfaire several more times.

See the dork in the green jester hat? Well he's the Link cosplayer from Otakon and we're dating now :3

Besides that, I also went to le goth club.

So there you have it, my Fall adventures- or at least the ones I have photo evidence of!

Pumpkin time!

Ah, Halloween is just around the corner! It really sneaked up on me. Another crazy-busy month has already flown by. This year, I'll be spending my Halloween weekend in New Orleans attending ARVLFC's Annual Vampire Ball on the 28th. I am so ridiculously excited, and I have so much to do. I haven't even decided what I'm wearing yet!
Anyway, this weekend I took a break from midterm craziness with the lovely Miss Kimmah. We put on appropriately Halloween-y outfits (isn't hers great? She made the skirt herself) and our matching tights, and stomped off to a pumpkin patch. The rain stopped finally, the weather was beautiful, and so despite getting hay in my petticoat, I'd say it was a successful day. One our way back, we discovered a tiny little 19th century graveyard next to her apartment complex.
Kimm took lovely photographs of our outing. Click to enlarge.

The Pumpkining begins.

We then took our spoils to her place and proceed to gut them most violently. Kimm's is Hello Kitty and mine is a spooky house/nightscape.

I hope that all of you darlings have a lovely, spooky holiday! Stay safe and don't take candy from strangers!
